Damask, a luxurious fabric, traces its origins to ancient China and gained prominence through its association with Damascus, Syria, a hub for silk trading and weaving during the Middle Ages. Renowned for its intricate patterns woven into the fabric itself, rather than printed, damask embodies elegance and timeless craftsmanship. The original damask from which we drew inspiration is found in the Colonial Williamsburg archives. It was a swatch from a fabric decorator sampler book dating back to the mid-1800's.
The Richmond Damask collection takes further inspiration in the color palette found in Colonial Williamsburg. We are offering coral, emerald green and dark indigo on our porcelain lamps and accessories.
The narrow porcelain jar offers a lift off top. Accented with a solid brass finial.
