A parterre was a popular formal garden in England and France in the late 17th century. The geometric clipped hedge patterns associated with this type of garden often incorporated avenues and stylized tree plantations; some designs even featured elaborate sculptures, fountains and terraces.
The Garden Parterre prints are illustrations from Colonial Williamsburg's rare book collection. We have colored the printed images in a meadow green for todays "Trend Meets Tradition" WILLIAMSBURG collection.
Framed under a lucite shadowbox, the giclee prints are mounted to an interior board that is upholstered in an off white cotton/linen fabric.
